Rowling herself said that he was actually a full blown psychopath. Yea, I know, not much of a difference, but he generally fought Harry himself(whether or not he had help). An MN would likely get someone else to do the dirty work or use more underhanded tactics.
A good example of an MN is Shinji Ikutski from Persona 3, but I don't know if you play video games or not. Still, I thought he was a perfect example of one.
